House advances censure against Rep. Green

During Donald Trump’s joint address to Congress, Rep. Al Green (D-TX) stood up to disrupt Trump’s speech.

He was given a warning by Speaker Johnson (R-LA), but he continued to disrupt Trump, telling Trump that he had “no mandate.”

Johnson had the sergeant-at-arms remove Green, and now the House is trying to censure him.

Along Party Lines

Reports surfaced several days before the address that Dems were planning to disrupt Trump’s speech.

With Republicans on notice, I am sure Johnson had already spoken to the sergeant-at-arms to let him know that any repeated disruptions would be dealt with by removing members.

Johnson was not playing games, with Dems being unruly right from the start, in particular Green, who stood and start waving his cane around.

Johnson told him, “Mr. President, members are directed to uphold and maintain decorum in the House and to cease any further disruptions. That’s your warning.”

When the nonsense did not stop, Johnson stated, “Find that members continue to engage in willful and concerted disruption of proper decorum, the Chair now directs the Sergeant at Arms to restore order.”

At this point, Green was removed from the joint session.

Competing censure resolutions were floating around the House, but they finally got together to advance the resolution, which passed along party lines with a 211-209 vote, with not a single Democrat voting to advance the censure.

When the final vote hit the floor, the formal censure passed with a vote of 224-198, so 10 Democrats wound up crossing the aisle to vote in favor of the censure.

Now, this is really nothing more than a slap on the wrist, but we all know how outraged Democrats were when a Republican called Obama a “liar” and they shouted during Biden’s address.

I think it is a bit childish regardless, but you cannot act outraged over one, then the entire party gives Green a pass.

Sadly, this is the state of today’s political world. As I have stated before… it is nothing but theater on their behalf, as they all look to go viral, then fundraise off their moment, as we are now seeing from all the Democrats who walked out of the address.

And we wonder why Congress never actually accomplishes anything.

Keep in mind, while all these videos are being made and this resolution is drawn up and presented, the clock is ticking on the annual budget as well as the continued resolution. But being a social media star is far more important to these morons.
