Graham suggests Zelensky should resign

Last week, as I am sure all of you know, there was a disastrous White House meeting between Donald Trump, JD Vance, and Ukrainian President Zelensky.

After the argument took place on live TV, Senator Graham (R-S.C.) called the meeting a disaster.

However, by the time he held a press conference at the White House, his tune had changed rather dramatically.

No Voice

In my other reports, I noted that Vance appeared to come into this meeting with an agenda to call out Zelensky for having “campaigned” with Harris in PA during the 2024 cycle.

While the event was not dubbed a campaign event, it seemed pretty clear what was going on, and Vance took exception to it.

He went after Zelensky for it once the meeting went up into flames, having  stated, “You went to Pennsylvania and campaigned for the opposition… Offer some words of appreciation for the United States of America and the president who’s trying to save your country.”

Graham commented right after the meeting, having stated, “Devastated. Everything I … have been working for to try to get a new relationship with the United States around a critical minerals deal beneficial to both of us was completely obliterated today.”

He later added, “The question for me is, ‘Is he redeemable in the eyes of Americans?’ Most Americans witnessing what they saw today would not want Zelensky to be their business partner, including me, and I’ve been to Ukraine nine times since the war started.”

Then he switched his tune a bit, later stating, "I've never been more proud of the president. I was very proud of J.D. Vance standing up for our country. He [Zelensky] either needs to resign and send somebody over that we can do business with or he needs to change.”

He further stated, “What I saw in the Oval Office was disrespectful and I don't know if we can ever do business with Zelensky again.”

When Zelensky did an interview after the Graham comments, he responded, "Lindsey Graham is a very good guy… I can give him Ukrainian citizenship, then his voice will gain weight."

Graham then responded, “Unfortunately, until there is an election, no one has a voice in Ukraine.”

Graham is referring to the fact that Zelensky has declared martial law during the war, suspending all elections until further notice, which also drew the ire of Trump, who called Zelensky a “dictator” for having done so.

I have seen reports that Zelensky allegedly met with some Democrats before his White House meeting, and they recommended to him not to sign the mineral rights deal. Now, I have not yet verified those reports, but Zelensky did reportedly refuse to sign the deal prior to his press conference, so that does make sense.

There are new reports that Zelensky has stated he is ready to sign, but Trump has already stated that the deal will only be considered when Zelensky is ready for peace, so, for now, it is a waiting game to see who blinks first.
