Gabbard joins Kash Patel in ignoring Musk order
Over the weekend, reports broke that Elon Musk sent out a memo to every government employee.
The memo requested a summary of their activity for the week to justify their position.
Musk is seeing resistance, however, and it is not from Democrats alone.
Belay That Order
When word of Musk's order leaked, the media and Democrats went ballistic, but they were not the only ones.
Kash Patel, the newly confirmed Director of the FBI, immediately sent out a memo telling staffers to pause their reply.
Patel told staffers that the FBI "is in charge of all of our review processes, and will conduct reviews in accordance with FBI procedures.
"When and if further information is required, we will coordinate the responses. For now, please pause any responses."
Word spread that Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, also told her staff to ignore the memo.
She wrote to staffers, "Given the inherently sensitive and classified nature of our work, I.C. employees should not respond to the OPM email."
Not long after word of Gabbard's memo surfaced, it was revealed that Secretary of State Marco Rubio issued a similar notice to State Department employees.
Musk had announced his memo on X, posting, "Consistent with President @realDonaldTrump's instructions, all federal employees will shortly receive an email requesting to understand what they got done last week. Failure to respond will be taken as a resignation."
Somewhere, signals got crossed here. If Trump had given the order, I would think he would have given department heads a bit of a warning that this was coming and told them their staff needed to comply.
Now this has the appearance of Musk going rogue, or at the very least, the administration not being on the same page.
If, in fact, Trump did give Musk this directive, then he was just defied by three of his cabinet members, and when you look at their reasons for defying the order, it makes it appear as though, Trump, Musk, or both are absolutely clueless.
No matter how you slice this one up, it is not a good look for the administration and the media is already pouncing.
Not that his opinion means much, but Democrat strategist James Carville has predicted this is the beginning of the implosion of this administration, predicting Trump will not be able to hold it together for more than six weeks at best.
When Trump was elected, I had stated that he has no room for error, only having two years to prove to the American people that the GOP is fit and ready to run this country. While Trump has done some good things so far, they will always be outweighed by the screw-ups due to the nature of our media. And this, my friends, was a big one.
