Iran threats against Trump more serious than reported, according to book

As Donald Trump embarked on his 2024 campaign for another term in the White House, he encountered threats that extended beyond the typical challenges of political life.

An upcoming book by Isaac Isenstadt reveals that threats against Trump, allegedly linked to Iran, were more severe than publicly acknowledged, prompting a series of security measures and concerns.

The book, titled "Revenge: The Inside Story of Trump's Return to Power," claims that the danger Trump faced while campaigning involved operatives in the U.S. equipped with surface-to-air missiles. This alarming information led to escalated caution around Trump's private jet, "Trump Force One."

In July of his 2024 campaign, Trump survived an assassination attempt in Pennsylvania, where an incident left him with an injury to his ear.

Later, in September 2024, another significant threat materialized at the Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, Florida. This assassination attempt further heightened the security surrounding Trump's campaign trail.

Decoy Plane Used For Trump's Security

One of the accused in the Florida incident, Ryan Wesley Routh, had previously written a controversial book in 2023 that encouraged actions against Trump by Iran. Following the West Palm Beach attempt, Trump's team adopted additional security measures, employing a decoy plane for his travels.

To ensure safety while maintaining campaign commitments, Trump's team arranged for campaign co-chairs Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita to travel separately. Wiles used the decoy plane, while LaCivita accompanied Trump on his official aircraft.

In an effort to grasp the gravity of the situation, Trump voiced his frustrations with what he perceived as restricted information from the Biden administration regarding these threats.

Coordinate Efforts Against Assassination Attempts

November 2024 saw another significant development as the U.S. Justice Department successfully intercepted a plot allegedly backed by Iran aimed at Trump. This development underscored the ongoing security issues during his campaign.

Throughout this turbulent period, the threats varied in nature. Authorities issued warnings about a potential shooting targeting his motorcade in Long Island in mid-September 2024.

In Pennsylvania, security agents resorted to using an electromagnetic gun to neutralize a drone over Trump's motorcade. Each incident served to underscore the heightened vigilance and constant threat during Trump's campaign.

Trump Outlines Severe Consequences

In discussions with the New York Post, Trump questioned inconsistencies and discrepancies he perceived in the details surrounding the threats, expressing interest in the backgrounds of those involved.

LaCivita, addressing colleagues during flights, noted the precautions taken by remarking on Trump's use of separate transportation as a practice for possible future scenarios.

Simultaneously, Trump publicly criticized the Biden administration for what he considered delays and withholding of critical information related to the assassination attempts.

Escalating Tensions Into Trump's Second Term

As he transitioned into his second presidency in 2025, Trump maintained a stern stance concerning threats from Iran. He promised "severe repercussions" should any attempts on his life succeed.

Trump's remarks carried a high level of intensity, warning that any hostile actions by Iran leading to his assassination would result in devastating consequences.

However, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian denied any involvement in plotting against Trump, distancing his administration from these dangerous allegations.

This evolving story reflects not only the intricacies of international politics but also the very real risks political figures face in the arena of global diplomacy and power struggles.

As new insights emerge from Isenstadt's book, the seriousness of the threats against Trump highlights the challenges of ensuring security in the charged atmosphere of American presidential campaigns.

The situation underscores the complexities and tensions that permeate international relations and personal safety at the highest levels of political leadership.
