Politico narrative on Trump flips after $8m in subscriptions revealed

This week, it was revealed that our government spends more than $8 million a year in subscriptions to Politico.

This was part of the Elon Musk DOGE effort, with it later being announced that the administration was working to cancel those subscriptions.

Now, for the first time in forever, Politico had something nice to say about Trump, which really brings into question the integrity of the outlet.

Nice Guys

Politico has ripped Trump and created negative headlines about Trump for most of the last decade.

Yet, after the administration threatened to pull $8 million from them, the narrative changed.

This week, in the Politico Playbook, the outlet commented on the first two weeks of the Trump administration.

It reported,He was ready: Has any incoming administration been better prepared for power? Never mind the first 100 days — Trump’s team had a battleplan for the first 100 hours, and they executed it with stunning efficacy. From the barrage of executive orders to DOGE’s all-out war on government, it has all been way bigger than anyone foresaw. Rudderless and bewildered, Democrats had no idea how to respond.

“This guy has energy: Trump might be the oldest president ever to swear the oath, but he’s not slowing down. The pace of executive action has been off the charts. And Trump has made public appearances and taken media questions almost every single day. Each EO signing turns into a pressw`2 conference; every trip on Air Force One an impromptu gaggle with hacks. Trump has dominated every moment of the news agenda. Joe Biden he is not.”

Trump’s narrative on these subscriptions is just flat-out wrong. If you go back and check financials during his administration, I would guarantee the government was paying for subscriptions to media outlets very similar to what Musk looked at.

Quite frankly, I am surprised the mainstream media has not taken that line of attack against him already.

This just goes to show, however, how much money is randomly spent that is really not tracked by any administration.

Not trying to take a shot at Trump here, but let’s see the records for USAID under the Trump administration in 2017-20 to see where the money was flowing.

Who we really need to hold accountable for this is Congress, as all that money was likely approved in some monster bill that went before them that was not fully read.

This is the problem with reconciliation and omnibus legislation.

All that money is hidden, and nobody knows where it really goes.

Well, now Musk is doing a line-by-line check, and we are finally seeing all the waste.
