Trump OMB nominee confirmed along party lines
Democrats did their best to derail the nomination of Russel Vought, but it did not work.
Dems spent hours filibustering the nomination, but they eventually ran out of gas and the vote was taken to confirm Vought as the head of the Office of Management and Budget.
As expected, the vote came along party lines, with Vought passing 53-47.
He’s In
The reason Democrats were fighting this nomination so hard is because Vought was a major player in the controversial Project 2025 that Trump claimed he knew nothing about.
Within that project, there were plans to significantly cut Medicaid along with major cuts to numerous departments within the existing government.
This is why Democrats are now saying that Trump will cut Medicaid, even though he has never actually said that.
When Trump nominated Vought, he showed his cards too early, stating that he “knows exactly how to dismantle the Deep State and end Weaponized Government, and he will help us return Self Governance to the People.”
This is a huge nomination for Trump in terms of getting budgets passed because Trump wants to use reconciliation on the first budget bill.
The OMB has the final say on what can and cannot be used in budgetary legislation, so he will need Vought to greenlight the bill if he wants to force through certain aspects of the agenda, such as border wall construction.
As usual, Democrats were in a panic, with Senator Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) stating, "His confirmation would be a disaster for working families and a godsend to billionaires who don't pay their fair share in taxes.”
You mean those tax breaks that people like Nancy Pelosi and George Soros use to avoid paying their “fair share”?
Trump actually just announced his tax plan, openly saying that he wants to close some of the tax loopholes that are enjoyed by the richest people in this country.
It’s gonna be a wild ride, folks.
