Leavitt rips media for bogus narrative on Trump’s Gaza plan
It took all of about 10 seconds for the media to go on a runaway train after Trump announced that he wanted the United States to take over Gaza.
A reporter asked White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt about the United States putting boots on the ground in Gaza.
That resulted in Leavitt quickly snapping back at the reporter, correcting her that boots on the ground had not even been discussed at this point.
That is Not What He Said
The problem for Trump is that he often has no filter, saying what pops into his head with no real plan to explain, which is what happened regarding Gaza.
Trump threw out the idea of the United States taking over the area, then the media ran with the narrative that he was suggesting this as a military action.
That led to NBC’s Garrett Haake questioning the plan and possibly military action, to which Leavitt responded, “The president has not committed to putting boots on the ground.
“He said the United States will not pay for the rebuilding of the Gaza. His administration will work with our partners in the region to reconstruct this region.”
She continued, “Let me take a step back here,' Leavitt said. 'This is out of the box idea and that is who President Trump is and why the American people elected him.
“His goal is lasting peace in the Middle East for all people in the region.”
Her explanation was far better than Trump’s because I had the same questions about who would be financing this mess. A country that is $36 trillion in debt cannot afford to bankroll this rebuilding project.
There are plenty of wealthy nations in the Middle East who we are friendly with, so let them dig into that oil money and take care of this one.
We also have to consider what an American presence in the area would do to the temperature of the region, and I can guarantee you it will not be anything good.
