Pete Hegseth pulls General Mark Milley's security detail

Pete Hegseth has only been America's Defense Secretary for a few days, but he's already hard at work progressing the agenda of the man who appointed him, President Donald Trump.

Breitbart is reporting that "Pete Hegseth has informed former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff retired Army Gen. Mark Milley that he is revoking his personal security detail and suspending his security clearance, according to senior defense officials."

Hegseth is also launching an investigation to decide if Milley should keep his rank as a retired-four star general, or if he should be stripped of that title because of his actions undermining the chain of command at the end of President Donald Trump's first term.

Pentagon spokesman John Ullyot made an announcement about the situation:

"The Secretary informed General Milley today that he is revoking the authorization for his security detail and suspending his security clearance as well. The Secretary has also directed the DoD IG to conduct an inquiry into the facts and circumstances surrounding Gen Milley’s conduct so that the Secretary may determine whether it is appropriate to reopen his military grade review determination."

Milley had been assigned a personal security detail after America's military conducted a fatal strike on Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Quds Force leader Qasem Soleimani in 2020, and Iran vowed retaliation.

According to multiple accounts, Milley took a number of actions at the end of Donald Trump's first presidency which undermined America's chain of command.

According to The Divider, a book written by Susan Glasser and Peter Baker, Milley wanted to resign in June 2020 during the Black Lives Matter protests, but decided to stay until the end of Donald Trump's term so that Milley could "fight" Trump from the "inside."

"F-ck that shit. … I’ll just fight him," Milley reportedly told his staff. "If they want to court-martial me, or put me in prison, have at it. … But I will fight from the inside."

Milley also reportedly regularly contacted former Obama National Security Adviser Susan Rice and referred to Trump as the "enemy" to Biden's incoming team.

In the book War, written by Bob Woodward and Robert Costa, it's reported that Milley called Trump "fascist to the core."

If these allegations are true, no wonder Trump wants Milley's security detail taken away.
