Marco Rubio Approved as Secretary of State

Donald Trump just got some very good news.

Not even 24 hours in office, the Senate has approved his first cabinet pick.

As expected, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) coasted through his confirmation hearing, passing unanimously as Trum’s Secretary of State.

He’s In

Rubio had what some called a “flawless” performance during his committee hearing.

Rubio is well-liked in the Senate, and he was a perfect choice for Secretary of State, so this was, as we noted above, expected.

Unfortunately, an easy pass like this will not be the norm for most of Trump’s cabinet picks.

Rubio, during his hearing, stated, “The 21st Century will be defined by what happens between the United States and China.

“They have elements that the Soviet Union never possessed.

“They are a technological adversary and competitor, an industrial competitor, an economic competitor, a geopolitical competitor, a scientific competitor now — in every realm. It is an extraordinary challenge.”

Rubio’s seat in the Senate has already been filled by Governor Ron DeSantis, who chose his attorney general, Ashley Moody, to serve.

In making his appointment, DeSantis stated, “Talk is cheap. We need people that have demonstrated fidelity to these principles with their actions. So that is why today, I’m proud to announce that I am selecting our Attorney General Ashley [Moody to] serve as our next U.S. senator.”

He continued, “This is a time for action and a time for Washington, DC to deliver results to the American people. There are no more excuses for Republicans.

“We can’t choose the easy path here. We must be able to do what it takes, make the hard decisions necessary to usher in a revival of the American experiment.”

This was a great pick by DeSantis, and I am very much looking forward to seeing what Moody does once seated.

She has been a fierce advocate for DeSantis, and I think she will do an amazing job for the people of Florida in the Senate.
