Pair of Supreme Court judges shot dead in Iran

Two high court judges have been shot dead.

Mohammad Moghiseh and Ali Razini, two judges in the Supreme Court of Iran, have been assassinated in Tehran.

Razini was 71 years old and Moghiseh was 68 years old.

According to the BBC News, Ranzini and Moghiseh were murdered in the court by a gunman in the country’s capital.

BBC News also noted that while the killer was fleeing the scene, he took his own life.

The Iranian media has called these attacks very rare and the motive is still unknown at this time.

However, BBC News noted that both judges killed that day played roles in the mass execution of dissidents of the Islamic government and have done so for more than 40 years.

Iran’s Judiciary Media Center has released a statement on the shocking killing of the judges and the events that occurred that day.

“This morning, an armed infiltrator at the Supreme Court carried out a premeditated assassination targeting two brave and experienced judges renowned for their fight against crimes against national security, espionage, and terrorism. As a result of this terrorist act, two dedicated and revolutionary judges—steadfast in their defense of public security—were killed,” said the Judiciary Media Center.

The ISNA News and BBC News have now reported that it was not the first time Razini had been targeted in a terrorist-led assassination attempt decades ago.

ISNA News also went on to say that “over the past year, the Judiciary has undertaken extensive measures to identify, pursue, arrest, and prosecute agents and elements affiliated with the despised Zionist regime.”

Unfortunately, despite the Judiciary’s preventative measures, they were not able to prevent the brutal shooting of two of the Iranian judges.

At this time, the United States has not responded to the news of the shootings.

What do you think the motive was for the killings of both of the Iranian judges?
