AZ AG Requests Complete Jack Smith Case File

Well, we all thought the election interference and classified documents cases were over against Donald Trump.  

Special Counsel Jack Smith has dropped the charges in the J6 case, dropped his appeal in the classified documents case, and has just resigned.  

Pump the brakes, though, because Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) has just requested all of Jack Smith’s case files.  

Moving Forward 

Mayes did not even hide the fact that she would like to pick up where Jack Smith left off.  

In her request to the DOJ, she stated, “Today, my office has one of the only remaining cases that includes charges against national actors. 

“I have held steadfast to prosecuting the grand jury’s indictment because those who tried to subvert democracy in 2020 must be held accountable. 

“Undoubtedly, disclosing Special Counsel’s file to my office will help ensure that those who should be held accountable are.” 

Does this mean she will use this to file charges against Donald Trump or is she looking to bolster the cases against Trump allies who are still going on trial?  

While Arizona has not gotten the headlines of states like Georgia and New York for going after Trump and his allies, there is a case in Arizona that names 16 Trump allies in an election subversion case.  

As we have seen in other states, they are being charged in relation to the effort to have false electors presented to change the outcome of the 2020 election.  

Trump was never charged in the Arizona case, but that does not mean that the “unindicted co-conspirator 1” could not eventually be charged if Mayes finds something juicy in that Smith file.  

This is going to be a very interesting legal battle, especially considering the order by Judge Aileen Cannon in Smith’s classified documents case.  

With the charges being dropped, does Mayes even have the right to see the case files?  

I am sure this will all be challenged and litigated, so while I don’t think Trump will face any additional charges, you just never know with these Democrat AGs who are determined to take Trump down one way or another.
