Trump Meets with Fetterman at Mar-a-Lago
Senator John Fetterman (D-CA) has been one of the more reasonable Democrats in office since being seated in the Senate.
This has shocked many of us because of how Fetterman was attacked during the election; he had every reason to simply ignore Republicans.
Instead, he has been more moderate than any of us could have imagined, and now he has even met with Donald Trump to talk about his upcoming administration and agenda.
Let’s Chat
Fetterman had a reputation for being uber-liberal when he was running for office, and his record justified that, but it has been far from the case since taking office.
For instance, while many in his party were ripping Israel, it was Fetterman who had the Israeli flag, taunting pro-Palestine protesters.
Fetterman has already supported some of Trump’s nominees, and he has stated he would be more than willing to work with Republicans on legislation.
The fact of the matter is that you cannot have a successful administration these days unless you have a handful of Senators willing to cross the aisle, and Trump knows this, hence the meeting with Fetterman.
After their meeting, Trump stated, “It was a totally fascinating meeting. He’s a fascinating man, and his wife is lovely. They were both up, and I couldn’t be more impressed.
“He’s a commonsense person. He’s not liberal or conservative. He’s just a commonsense person, which is beautiful.”
Fetterman also commented on the meeting, stating, “I think that one, he’s the president, or he will be officially.
“And I think it’s pretty reasonable that if the president would like to have a conversation — or invite someone to have a conversation — to have it. And no one is my gatekeeper.”
Fetterman has already shown that he will swim upstream with the Laken Riley Act, stepping up as the first Democrat in the Senate to sponsor the bill, stating, “I think if we can’t — there [are] 47 of us in the Senate, and if we can’t pull up with seven votes, if we can’t — at least 7 out of 47, and if we can’t, then that’s the reason why we lost. That’s one of them, that’s one of [the reasons] why we lost, in part.”
Mark my words, Fetterman is making a move in the Senate, so don’t be surprised if he starts to become more prominently named in the 2028 race as a possible favorite to run for president.
That would make for a very interesting race, especially if Fetterman continues to wear shorts and hoodies as his preferred attire.
