REPORT: China Considering Selling TikTok US to Elon Musk
The clock is running out on TikTok being able to operate in the United States.
A solution is now reportedly being floated.
According to new reports, one possible solution is to sell the company to Elon Musk.
Elon the Social Media Giant
While China would surely prefer that ByteDance LTD stay in control of the app, if the Supreme Court appeal does not work in their favor, they will have to sell the company if they want it to continue to operate in the United States.
From reports I have seen, one of the options they are now considering is to sell the company to Musk, but that would likely not include the algorithm, but I am sure that Musk could care less about that.
He can surely develop his own algorithm, especially with his experience with X and developing its algorithm.
If Musk were to add TikTok to his empire, it could also help boost advertising in X, but I don’t think that is the real lure for Musk.
If Musk has TikTok and X, consider the access to personal data that he would now have.
It would be so significant, I would expect Democrats to significantly pushback on Musk being in Trump’s administration.
Think about it... a top presidential adviser who has access to two of the most powerful social media outlets not just in the United States, but also in the entire world.
The data that he would be able to obtain, not to mention how he could tailor an algorithm to push conservatives (or Democrats, for that matter), would make Musk a very dangerous man. Correction, it would arguably make him the most powerful man in the country, and you know Democrats do not want someone like that having direct access to Trump ore being with the Republican Party in general.
Musk has, in the past, expressed his support for TikTok remaining active in the United States even though banning it would benefit X. That concern clearly goes out the window if Musk adds TikTok to his portfolio.
