Experts say royals paying little notice to Meghan Markle Netflix series
Experts told Fox News that the British royal family would not be tuning into Meghan Markle's new Nexflix show, With Love, Meghan, and aren't paying much attention to her exploits after she and her husband Prince Harry stopped being working royals and left the UK for a home in California.
"I was told that the Prince and Princess of Wales have no interest in Meghan’s future projects," host of the "To Di For Daily" podcast Kinsey Scofield said of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
"A palace source told me, ‘Meghan was a background character in a chapter that’s already closed,’" Schofield shared. "Courtiers don’t believe that Meghan is worth the mental real estate."
Netflix has not given advance screenings to any of the royal family, and a low-level staffer will be assigned to watch it in case anything is said that would affect the royals or their reputation.
"Pretty superficial"
The royals simply "couldn’t give a damn," expert Richard Fitzwilliams claimed.
"Meghan does still make news, and the Sussex brand still fascinates," he said. "But… [the series] looked pretty superficial to me. I wondered where the Kardashians were."
The family is busy dealing with very serious challenges like King Charles's cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as the aftermath of Middleton's own cancer diagnosis.
Middleton has completed chemotherapy and is recovering, while the king continues to undergo treatment while still handling limited royal duties.
Too busy to care
Prince William has had to become the "rock" of the family along with handling his own responsibilities and many philanthropic projects.
They simply have very little time to worry about Markle's series, which experts have labeled "shallow" and "vapid."
"Having endured a tumultuous year, our royal family is feeling thankful, positive and optimistic and certainly have much bigger fish to fry going forward," British broadcaster and photographer Helena Chard said. "Meghan has become somewhat irrelevant. As long as the Netflix reality TV show doesn't jeopardize the British royal family's reputation, it will pass the royal family by."
Chard said the King would want Markle to be successful since it would keep the couple from coming to the family for money.
"He hopes that Harry and Meghan remain self-sufficient, financially afloat, and do not come knocking at his door," Chard claimed.
Schofield said in agreement, "I do know that the king is eager for Harry and Meghan to find purpose and professional success. He believes they might move beyond their bitterness if they feel like they are achieving their goals."
