Nancy Pelosi announces return to Washington after hip surgery
Nancy Pelosi has officially made the decision.
She's moving on from the recovery phase after falling in Germany and will return to Washington, D.C., for her first appearance since hip surgery.
Pelosi was hospitalized in December after falling during an event for the 80th anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
She was taken to Landstuhl Regional Medical Center in Germany, where she had hip surgery.
"I am on my way to Washington to proudly represent the people of San Francisco in Congress. I’m honored to do so to share our San Francisco values," Pelosi said on social media. "Thank you for giving me that honor."

It wasn't business as usual for Pelosi, however. The New York Times reported that she skipped her signature high heels in favor of flats for the first day of the 119th Congress.
Specifically, "Nancy Pelosi was wearing sheepskin-lined slip-on clogs in the House," according to the New York Times.
Rep. Michael McCaul, a Republican from Texas, addressed Pelosi's signature heels at the time of her fall.
"She likes to wear high heels -- very high," Michael McCaul said.
McCaul was the person standing right next to Pelosi for a photo just moments before she crashed to the floor.
Pelosi wasn't the only Democrat lawmaker returning to Congress on Jan. 3 after health issues. Pennsylvania Democrat Rep. Dwight Evans, who recently suffered a stroke, was expected to return as well.
While we wish nothing but good health for America's elected officials, how old is too old to run this country?
If the people in charge are suffering strokes and breaking hips, could that possibly represent that they've declined enough where younger and sharper politicians should be stepping in?
Maybe, but that might limit how much Nancy Pelosi can make from insider stock trading, so she's not going to leave without a fight.
