2 Navy Pilots Shot Down via Friendly Fire
What in the world is going on with our military?
That is the question everyone is asking after yet another bizarre incident took place over the weekend.
The incident… a Navy fighter jet being shot down by friendly fire.
Another Bad Day
Our military has had yet another bad day under the oversight of Joe Biden and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin.
And I have to say, based on Austin’s military career, where he was highly decorated for both his service in combat and for his oversight of some massive campaigns, it is stunning that he has been so inept as Secretary of Defense.
To that point, a Navy F/A-18 was shot down on Sunday over the Red Sea in a friendly-fire incident.
The military has a presence in the area targeting Houthi rebels.
Thankfully, both pilots in the plane were able to eject, and they recovered, with only minor injuries being reported.
But the American taxpayer just had a $60 million aircraft blown to bits because someone on our side hit the wrong button.
Central Command explained, “The guided-missile cruiser USS Gettysburg, which is part of the USS Harry S. Truman Carrier Strike Group, mistakenly fired on and hit the F/A-18.
“This incident was not the result of hostile fire, and a full investigation is underway.”
Exactly how this happened has yet to be explained, and quite frankly, from my friends in the service, this should never happen.
The ships and the jets are linked via radar and communications, so how it got to the point that firing on the jet was approved will surely have someone on that ship facing severe discipline.
The report went on to say that those warships have been facing fire from Houthi drones and anti-ship cruise missiles that the Houthis have launched, but again, that is a completely different radar signature than a friendly jet.
