Trump Says He’s Considering Pardon for NYC Mayor Adams

As I am sure most of you know by now, New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted on bribery and campaign finance-related charges.

Adams also happens to be one of the few Democrats who spoke up about the situation at the border.

Trump seems to believe that Adams has been mistreated by the DOJ, so he recently stated that he would consider pardoning Eric Adams.

The Indictment

Adams was indicted by the Southern District of New York, with U.S. Attorney Damian Williams announcing, “As alleged, Mayor Adams abused his position as this City’s highest elected official, and before that as Brooklyn Borough President, to take bribes and solicit illegal campaign contributions.

“By allegedly taking improper and illegal benefits from foreign nationals—including to allow a Manhattan skyscraper to open without a fire inspection—Adams put the interests of his benefactors, including a foreign official, above those of his constituents.

“This Office and our partners at the FBI and DOI will continue to pursue corruption anywhere in this City, especially when that corruption takes the form of illegal foreign influence on our democratic system.”

As noted above, Adams has been vocal about immigration, using that as his excuse for the investigation, taking the game plan right from Trump.

According to Adams, he is being targeted by the DOJ because of his pushback on this issue.

That apparently got Trump’s attention, who, when asked if he would consider a pardon for Adams, responded, "Yeah, I would. I think that he was treated pretty unfairly."

This is one that I cannot get behind, especially when you consider how many members of Adams’ administration are or have been indicted so far (and the investigation is still active).

If Adams was illegally taking campaign donations to pump up his funding via the match program, well, he should be prosecuted and serve his time.

If Adams was doing political favors for donations, he should be prosecuted and serve his time.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am sick and tired of seeing corrupt politicians get away with their crimes simply because they are members of the club.

If Trump pardons Adams, it will be a huge mistake, in my opinion.
