REPORT: Newly Resigned Mayor Adams Aide Will Face Charges
Yet another official in the administration of New York City Mayor Adams is reportedly facing charges.
Ingrid Lewis-Martin recently resigned from her post as a top adviser to Adams amid reports of corruption.
More information is now coming to light, as Lewis-Martin will reportedly face bribery charges for having helped out two businessmen who gave her son a loan to buy a Porsche.
All Corrupt
When Lewis-Martin announced that she would be resigning, she insisted that she had done nothing wrong.
Well, some people may question that statement now.
According to the report, hotelier Mayank Dwivedi and possibly one other businessman are at the heart of the allegations against the former Adams aide.
Lewis-Martin has been ordered to surrender to authorities on Thursday, where one source stated, “They’re going to lean on her like no tomorrow.”
The belief is that they will pressure her to give them more information in regard to the corruption charges Mayor Adams faces.
The report stated that Lewis-Martin used her influence to expedite a hold on a construction project in return for her son getting the loan for his car, quid pro quo at its finest.
Teny Geragos, who is Dwivedi’s lawyer, stated, “The DA has an incomplete and inaccurate view of the facts. We look forward to setting the record straight and proving Mr Dwivedi’s complete innocence.”
Lewis-Martin’s lawyer, Arthur Aidala, tried to give his client’s version of what took place, stating that Lewis-Martin placed a call asking for a reinspection to settle a dispute between the two parties.
He then added, “Six months later, these guys allegedly, like, hire her son to be a DJ or some job like that. And the son gets the money from these guys to do legitimate work.”
He is referring to Lewis-Martin’s son, who owns a DJ business.
“And now they’re saying that six months before, when Ingrid did this favor, she anticipated – not that there was a quid pro quo – if she would help them here, down the road it would give a benefit to her son.”
Donald Trump was recently asked if he would pardon Mayor Adams if he is convicted, and Trump said he would because he believes Adams was treated unfairly.
I completely disagree with that and believe it would send the completely wrong message for Trump to pardon a corrupt political official who has been tried and convicted.
If he winds up being found innocent, great, but if Adams did what they said, he deserves whatever time he gets sentenced to.
From my perspective, I am just sick and tired of seeing corrupt public officials pardoned simply because they know people. Had Adams not pushed back against Biden’s immigration policies, Trump would not even be considering this pardon, and everyone knows it.
No… there is simply no way I would get behind this pardon.
