Pelosi Has Hip Replacement Surgery After Fall Overseas
Late last week, it was reported that Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) had taken a bad fall during a trip overseas to Germany.
We knew she had sustained an injury, but it was unclear at the time just how bad it was.
As it turns out, Pelosi had to have surgery, having undergone hip replacement surgery after the fall.
On the Mend
We still don’t really know much about the actual fall taken by Pelosi.
After the incident took place, Ian Krager, a spokesperson, stated that Pelosi had "sustained an injury during an official engagement and was admitted to the hospital for evaluation."
He continued, "Speaker Emerita Pelosi is currently receiving excellent treatment from doctors and medical professionals.
“She continues to work and regrets that she is unable to attend the remainder of the CODEL engagements to honor the courage of our servicemembers during one of the greatest acts of American heroism in our nation’s history."
After the surgery, Krager informed the media that Pelosi was “well on the mend.”
Krager added, "Speaker Pelosi is grateful to U.S. military staff at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center and medical staff at Hospital Kirchberg for their excellent care and kindness.
“Speaker Pelosi is enjoying the overwhelming outpouring of prayers and well wishes and is ever determined to ensure access to quality health care for all Americans.”
Pelosi was in Germany as part of a bipartisan group of lawmakers celebrating the anniversary of the Battle of the Bulge.
As I have stated before, at her age, falling can create some major health issues, so it would appear that she got out of this, relatively speaking, with minimal damage.
I cannot help but laugh at how the media and Democrats have been calling for Senator McConnell (R-KY) to retire after his fall, yet now they are all sitting on their hands after Pelosi’s fall.
