TV Star Conan O'Brien's parents pass away within 3 days of each other

Television star Conan O'Brien was lucky enough to have both of his parents alive for a whopping 61 years of his life. That's a lot more than many people can say.

Although there's reason to celebrate their lives, that doesn't mean that Conan O'Brien isn't going to be mourning the passing of his parents.

Dr. Thomas O'Brien and his wife Ruth Reardon O'Brien passed away only three days apart from each other.

Conan's father passed away on Monday, December 9. According to The Boston Globe, his health had been failing.

Just three days later, Conan's mother died "peacefully," according to an obituary shared by the Bell-O'Dea Funeral Home in Massachusetts.

Conan O'Brien didn't wait long to start reminiscing about his favorite memories of his parents.

"The loudest I’ve ever heard anybody laugh was sitting next to him in a theater watching Peter Sellers in a Pink Panther movie," Conan said. "My dad was often the funniest guy in the room. And when he would laugh, his whole body would convulse and he would almost hug himself."

"Science has said there’s no such thing as perpetual motion, but my father was proof that that was wrong," Conan said about his dad.

"My father was in constant motion. And he was interested in everything — absolutely everything."

"He had a voracious appetite for ideas and people and the crazy variety and irony of life. He wanted to go everywhere, meet everybody, see everything, taste everything," Conan added.

"For the rest of my time on earth, I will be hearing from people who want to talk with me about my dad," Conan concluded. "I’ve never met anyone like him, and he happens to be my father. If I met him randomly in a hotel lobby, I’d think, ‘Who the hell is this guy? He’s the most interesting person I’ve ever met.’

Please keep the O'Brien family in your prayers during this difficult time.
