FAA Head to Resign Before Trump Takes Office

It appears as though Donald Trump will get another agency head to pick during his next presidential term.

It is now being reported that Mike Whitaker, the head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), will be resigning next month.

This will now allow Trump to pick the new boss for an agency that has come under considerable fire during the Biden administration.

He’s Gone

Whitaker took over the FAA in October 2023, and it seems as though ever since he has been in charge, it is one near miss after another.

Parts have been falling out of the sky on Boeing planes, showing that the FAA needs to have better oversight of aircraft being approved for air travel.

There have also been numerous near misses and bumps between planes on runways, not to mention a significant shortage in air traffic controls at a time when we need those towers staffed more than ever.

Whitaker sounds like most Democrats, however, believing that if he says it, it is then true.

He announced to staffers, “The United States is the safest and most complex airspace in the world, and that is because of your commitment to the safety of the flying public.

“This has been the best and most challenging job of my career, and I wanted you to hear directly from me that my tenure will come to a close on January 20, 2025.”

Joe Biden is not alone in this, however, as Whitaker was approved by the Senate, 98-0, during his confirmation hearing.

So, any Republicans complaining about Whitaker need to check themselves and do better vetting before pushing a candidate through.

This is just one more Biden mess that Trump has to clean up, so let’s hope he picks the right person to make our skies and runways a bit safer than they are right now.
