Daniel Penny Acquitted as Bragg Dealt Significant Blow
Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg was just dealt another significant blow to his reputation.
Daniel Penny, the Good Samaritan who choked out Jordan Neely on the subway, has been acquitted of all charges.
This, along with the Trump case, was a career case for Bragg, and he is going down in flames.
Crash and Burned
When Bragg decided to charge Penny, there was considerable outrage from the right.
Neely was reportedly terrorizing straphangers, when Penny put him in a chokehold to calm him down, but Neely wound up dying.
Neely has a long record as well as a record of mental illness.
Witnesses on the train stated that Neely was yelling and screaming at passengers, several of whom were terrified.
Penny stepped in to calm down Neely, but Neely continued to struggle, but eventually passed out while in the headlock.
First responders arrived at the scene, but Neely was eventually pronounced dead, with Penny being arrested.
Al Sharpton was right there to stoke the hate train, stating, “This kind of behavior was inexcusable 40 years ago when Bernard Goetz opened fire in a subway car, and it remained the case more than a year ago when Daniel Penny took Jordan’s life.”
This was hardly the same situation, and had Neely been permitted to continue on without resistance, who knows who could have been injured on that train that day.
Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) is among those celebrating the ruling, actually calling on Penny to sue Bragg for even having been prosecuted.
He stated, “Alvin Bragg is an absolute catastrophe. First, he indicted Donald Trump in a partisan case, and then he indicted Daniel Penny for saving the lives of other subway passengers from a deranged lunatic threatening to kill everyone.
“Penny should sue Bragg for malicious prosecution and hold this rogue Soros prosecutor accountable.”
I am not sure how successful a lawsuit against Bragg would be, but his reputation is taking a major hit.
Remember, this is the man who also wanted to prosecute a clerk at a Bodega who acted in self-defense while allowing dozens and dozens of rioters to go free in New York City.
At some point, perhaps the people of New York will want a DA that goes after real criminals instead of pushing his political agenda.
