Chelsea Manning and Other Activists Arrested at Capitol
A group of transgender activists led by former Army intelligence officer Chelsea Manning were arrested this week at the Capitol.
The group was protesting the new bathroom rule put in place by Speaker Johnson (R-LA) to ensure only biological women use the women’s room.
The rule was put in place because Democrats elected the first openly transgender woman to Congress during the last election.
Let Us In
There are bathrooms at the Capitol that can be used by transgenders, but they want access to the ladies' room, and Johnson was not having it.
Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.), a victim of sexual assault, is adamant she does not want men in the restroom, but her wishes do not seem to matter to the left.
To that point, Manning, a transgender, is leading the charge against the new policy.
Manning stated, “I’m here today because every person deserves dignity and respect, both in daily life and in more symbolic places like the U.S. Capitol.
“As someone who has fought against similar rules, I know what it’s like to feel pushed aside and erased.
“But I also know the incredible power and resilience our community has.
“I’m not here as a leader or a spokesperson but simply as another member of my community who shows up unconditionally to support my siblings in this fight. I will stand beside them no matter what. We didn’t start this fight, but we are together now.”
I am with Mace on this one and will die on this hill if necessary.
Bathrooms, locker rooms, and women’s sports are off-limits to me, and I just don’t understand how any woman in her right mind is comfortable with a biological male intruding into these spaces.
I don’t really care what people do on their own time or what they want to claim to be, but it is not up to the rest of the world to accept their version of reality.
