Jailed Trump Aide to Return to White House with Trump Administration
If you think Democrats were complaining about some of Donald Trump’s appointments, wait until they hear about this one.
Reports broke on Wednesday that Donald Trump will be bringing back Peter Navarro to serve in his administration.
Navarro was recently released from prison after having served his sentence for drying the January 6 Select Committee.
Cue the Outrage
Navarro was sentenced to four months in prison for contempt of Congress for refusing to obey the subpoena issued by the January 6 Select Committee.
At the time, Navarro reportedly tried to work a deal with the DOJ, but they were not interested.
Navarra explained, “I reached out to the Justice Department. I offered them a possible way forward.
“They responded with effectively the same kind of thing as you see in [former Soviet Union dictator Joseph] Stalin’s Russia or the Chinese Communist Party.”
Now he will be returning to the White House in a similar role to Trump’s first term, when he served as the director of the Office of Trade and Manufacturing Policy.
Trump announced the appointment on Wednesday, stating, “I am pleased to announce that Peter Navarro, a man who was treated horribly by the Deep State, or whatever else you would like to call it, will serve as my Senior Counselor for Trade and Manufacturing.”
Trump continued, “During my First Term, few were more effective or tenacious than Peter in enforcing my two sacred rules, Buy American, Hire American.
“He helped me renegotiate unfair Trade Deals like NAFTA and the Korea-U.S. Free Trade Agreement (KORUS), and moved every one of my Tariff and Trade actions FAST.
“The Senior Counselor position leverages Peter’s broad range of White House experience, while harnessing his extensive Policy analytic and Media skills.”
A major part of Trump’s economic plan will be using tariffs, and Navarro appears to be on board with the idea. They will be challenged, however, as many members of the GOP have expressed concerns about installing significant tariffs that could fall back on the American consumer.
