REPORT: Trump May Replace Hegseth with DeSantis
One of the first nominations revealed by Donald Trump was Fox News personality Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense.
Even though Hegseth is a veteran, his qualifications for the position were being questioned by both sides of the aisle.
There are now reports surfacing that Trump is considering replacing Hegseth with Florida Governor Ron DeSantis.
Bombshell Announcement
To this point, Donald Trump has not commented on the rumors, but Hegseth will see resistance on both sides of the aisle, so having a replacement in mind does not surprise me one bit.
In addition to Hegseth’s experience, he has been the subject of sexual misconduct allegations.
To be clear, the allegations against Hegseth were investigated by police, and the resulting reports say there is no evidence to back up the claims.
However, Hegseth did pay the woman off, so that is not exactly helping his case (and you know the Dems are going to use this against him).
There are now more allegations regarding spending and behavior that have created significant concern among Republicans, however.
It seems fairly apparent that Hegseth’s nomination is destined to fail, but insiders are saying that Trump is now considering DeSantis for the position.
During his campaign, DeSantis made it clear that cleaning up the military would be atop his agenda, stating, “Our mantra on Jan. 20, 2025, as commander-in-chief will be very simple: mission first, accomplish the mission.
“We also have to ensure that there’s good order and discipline on military installations. Having things like drag shows on military bases should not be allowed.”
I am a huge fan of DeSantis, so I would completely support this nomination, but I have to wonder how this would go over with JD Vance.
Right now, Vance is considered the 2028 frontrunner, but that changes rather dramatically if DeSantis is part of the Trump administration.
A successful stint as Defense Secretary would elevate DeSantis considerably, putting him right there with Vance, so I am not so sure I buy into the rumors that Trump would nominate the Florida governor for this position.
I would love to see it happen, but I am not biting this apple until it’s on the table.
