JD Vance's Senate replacement likely to emerge soon
In November, we didn't just elect Donald Trump as America's president, we elected JD Vance as well.
Now that Vance is getting ready to take over as vice president, the question is coming up regarding who is going to replace him in the Senate?
As of now, Republicans are looking at a few options.
Frank LaRose
Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose is the favorite among many Ohio Republicans to replace Vance. LaRose is a popular conservative figure in Ohio because of his attention to detail when recently cleaning up Ohio's voter rolls prior to the 2024 election.
Jon Husted
Ohio Lt. Gov. Jon Husted has been in his current position for five years now. He's been a major player in Ohio politics for a while now, serving as the Ohio secretary of state from 2011 to 2019, and the speaker of the Ohio House of Representatives from 2005 to 2009.
Jim Renacci
Renacci was elected to Congress in 2010 and had a career as a successful businessman before that. Before entering politics, Renacci owned multiple car dealerships in the Columbus area.
Matt Dolan
Ohio Republican state Sen. Matt Dolan has tried to win a U.S. Senate seat twice in the past three years, but this could finally be his chance. After falling short in the 2022 and 2024 Republican primaries, Dolan might be ready to try again.
Matt Dolan is the son of Larry Dolan, who owns the Cleveland Guardians Major League Baseball team.
Dave Joyce
Republican Congressman Dave Joyce is currently serving his sixth term in the U.S. House of Representatives after first being elected in 2012.
Warren Davidson
Warren Davidson is an Ohio Republican congressman who previously served as a U.S. Army infantryman, a role for which he was stationed in Germany.
Jane Timken
Timken is being considered for the appointment to this position after serving as the head of Ohio's GOP from 2017 to 2021. Timken finished fifth place in the most recent Republican primary for Senate.
Do you think that any of these people would be the right choice to fill the void left by Vance?
