Police investigating Black Friday shooting at Little Rock mall

Horror struck in Little Rock, Arkansas, when a shooting took place in a local mall parking lot on Black Friday.

The incident was said to have occurred just before 2 p.m. at the Park Plaza Mall.

Thankfully, according to Mark Edwards of the Little Rock Police Department, there were no fatalities and only non-life-threatening injuries were sustained.

“I haven't heard of any fatalities. I've heard maybe a couple of non-life threatening injuries, but nothing fatal,” Edwards said to the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette.

Edwards also told the Gazette that the event was an “isolated incident,” but that didn’t stop the mayor of Little Rock from shedding light on how serious the shooting truly was and how bad it could have been.

Mayor Frank Scott Jr., took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to share his thoughts on the mall parking lot shooting.

“The careless, senseless, and criminal actions of two individuals today jeopardized the lives and safety of residents and visitors. We are praying for the victims of this incident, and are hopeful they make a full recovery,” he wrote in the X post.

“Gun violence is unacceptable at any time or in any place. We trust those responsible for this will be held fully accountable for their dangerous and reckless decisions. We are grateful to our law enforcement officers, first responders, mall security and employees, and everyone who acted quickly to ensure safety and protect others,” continued Scott. in the post.

While we are relieved no fatalities came from the shooting, the mayor could not be more right.

The lives of others were put at risk that day.

Thanks to the first responders who acted correctly and swiftly, everyone walked away alive.

We commend the officers and mall security for a job well done. They deserve all the credit for putting themselves in danger in order to keep us safe.
