MTG to Chair House DOGE Oversight Committee
Well, if you thought Dems and the media were already bent out of shape over Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy heading up a new government agency, you haven’t seen anything yet.
Trump has named these two to head the Department on Government Efficiency (DOGE).
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) has just been named the chair of a House Oversight Committee subcommittee called the Delivering on Government Efficiency (DOGE) Subcommittee.
This Will Be Fun
Our government has more than 430 agencies listed in the Federal Register right now.
Some of these are redundant, some may appear to be unnecessary, and that is only the tip of the iceberg for government waste.
Our government probably spends hundreds of millions of dollars each year on useless research, such as how alcohol affects the sex drive of an otter (I made that up, but I would bet there is a study close to it in the works right now).
If I asked you who the largest employer in the country was, who do you think that would be?
The answer is our federal government, which currently employs nearly three million people.
Musk and Ramaswamy plan on reducing all that significantly to start saving the American taxpayer some money.
But, because this is a new government department, there must be oversight, and Greene is going to lead the way.
A source close to Greene stated, “The DOGE subcommittee will support the Oversight and Accountability Committee’s mission to root out waste, fraud and abuse in the federal government. Its objectives include investigating wasteful spending, examining ways to reorganize federal agencies to improve efficiency, and identifying solutions to eliminate bureaucratic red tape, fostering greater prosperity for our nation and citizens.”
Greene also posted on social media about her new assignment, stating, “In the private sector, if you’re not doing a good job, you get fired.
“But for some reason, in government, bad employees—whether they’re failing to do the job they were hired to do or working in roles that are no longer needed—never get fired. This is incredibly unfair to the hard-working taxpayers of our country, and it’s about to change.”
Greene and Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) have not exactly been buddies during his time as Speaker, so I am going to take a guess that this assignment was an olive branch to bury the hatchet.
As far as DOGE is concerned, I am very excited to see what they come up with and how much government waste is going to be trimmed.
I also very much look forward to the meltdown by Democrats, liberals, and the media when the cuts start to get announced.
