Texas Congressman Detained by Police
A congressman from Texas just had a run-in with the law at the airport.
According to local reports, Rep. Michael McCaul was briefly detained for being disoriented and allegedly under the influence at Dulles International Airport recently.
McCaul owns the incident, but it does not appear to be anything worrisome.
Are You Okay?
McCaul called the incident the direct result of a “poor decision.”
The Texas congressman stated that he does not like to fly, and in anticipation of his flight, he took some Ambien and had a drink.
As someone who does not like to fly, I can appreciate him trying to time it so he would be knocked out once on the plane.
Well, McCaul missed his flight, and when police spotted him, he was a bit disoriented walking around the airport, to the point he could not even work his phone.
McCaul stated, “Two weekends ago, I made a mistake — one for which I take full responsibility.
“I missed a flight to Texas and found myself disoriented in the airport. This was the result of a poor decision I made to mix an Ambien — which I took in order to sleep on the upcoming flight — with some alcohol.
“Law enforcement officers briefly detained me while I waited for a family member to pick me up.”
He added, "This incident does not reflect who I am and who I strive to be. As a human, I am not perfect.
“But I am determined to learn from this mistake and, God-willing, make myself a better person.”
To me, this is a big nothing burger, and I think anyone who does not like to fly will agree. I would say this if this was a Democrat or a Republican.
He messed up, and he owned up to his mistake, so let’s move on.
