Pence Believes Trump Should Not Pardon J6 Rioters Who Assaulted Police

With Trump about to take over the White House, there is immediately the issue of the pardons for J6 rioters on the table.

Trump has been adamant for years that he would pardon them, but he has stated they would look at each case.

Mike Pence has just chimed in on this, stating that Trump should not pardon anyone who assaulted police officers.

Not All of Them

I have stated from Day One that I thought the DOJ went overboard on the J6 prosecutions.

I have also stated that anyone that truly broke the law that day, that assaulted police, or that damaged the Capitol should be held accountable.

Trump has been asked about these pardons throughout the campaign, and he confirmed in July that he would pardon some of those convicted, stating, "Oh, absolutely, I would. If they're innocent, I would pardon them. They were convicted by a very tough system."

Pence addressed this issue, posting on X, "I don't think the president should pardon anyone who assaulted a police officer at the United States Capitol on January 6.

"Karen and I are literally praying that President-Elect Trump and Vice President-Elect Vance will stand on the commitments that they will make when they raise their right hands on that day.

"And with God's grace and the support of the American people, I believe they will."

I am in agreement with Pence on this one. We know who harmed officers that day, and they should be held accountable.

But when you are sending a 70-year-old grandma away for four years because she was praying inside the Capitol, well, I think we can all agree that Garland and his thugs went a bit too far.

Trump just needs to be very careful here because pardoning the wrong people could cost this party huge in the mid-term election.

If I were Trump, I would do this as quickly as possible so it dies down in the news cycle and gone before it can really hurt them in future elections.
