Man Arrested at Capitol Who ‘Smelled Like Fuel’
On Tuesday, Capitol Police made a rather disturbing announcement.
They had arrested a man carrying a torch and flare gun, as well as smelling like fuel.
Thankfully, the man was arrested without incident.
Preventing a Disaster
One of the most disturbing images I have ever seen happened when a soldier burned himself alive in public.
That is not an image I want to see again anytime soon, and thankfully, that is not the report here.
The Capitol Police stated, “Our officers just arrested a man who was stopped during our screening process at the Capitol Visitor Center (CVC).
“The man smelled like fuel, had a torch & a flare gun. The CVC is closed for tours for the day, while we investigate.
“We will provide more information when we can.”
Police further added that the man is believed to have driven from Michigan and that he is in his late 20s.
While Congress is not in session, it is still clearly a very busy time at the Capitol. Most lawmakers are in town for media appearances.
Additionally, the House was having a brief pro forma session that night.
While the natural assumption is that the man was protesting Donald Trump, the Capitol Police did not believe that.
Capitol Police Chief Thomas Manger stated, "There's no indication right now that it had anything to do with the election.”
He added that the U.S. Capitol Police have "an enhanced posture in terms of our security," that will likely continue "through and beyond the inauguration, if need be."
So far, the country appears to be calm, but doubt that will be the case on inauguration day.
The only thing that may have saved us thus far is that most outlets did not even announce that Trump was the winner until Wednesday morning.
At some point, the liberal meltdown will occur, and I think it will make the George Floyd riots look like a picnic.
