'Rich Men North of Richmond' singer leaving music industry to start traveling ministry
A country music legend is taking a step back from the spotlight.
When it comes to country music star Oliver Anthony, who only rose to fame just last year with his hit song "Rich Men North of Richmond,” is throwing in the towel on his time in the music industry.
The reason why, however, is what is so AMAZING. Unlike many musicians who quit because of failed careers or dead ends, Anthony was simply called to do something greater.
“I’ve decided that moving forward, I don’t need a Nashville management company. I don’t even need to exist within the space of music. So, I’m looking at switching my whole business over to a traveling ministry,” Anthony said.
“I have this vision for this thing that I’m calling the Real Revival Project, and it’s basically going to start as a grassroots music festival, but hopefully it grows into something that can literally change our landscape and our culture and the way we live,” he continued.
Anthony went on to say he wants to help the economy of small towns throughout America “so, you’re not having to drive to Pittsburgh to some concrete amphitheater to see a show.”
The music star went on to confess he is following “this voice from God that keeps putting this vision in my head of a way to make a real impact in this world, to make a real change, to help light a fire that no one really can extinguish in my lifetime or after.”
“I’m just somebody who thinks the whole way we live is a--backward and so stupid, and it serves nobody but the people at the top of the hierarchy that we no longer really need to serve,” he explained.
We commend Anthony for being so bold in his faith.
There are very few people who would willingly walk away from the opportunity he was given and the reason behind his decision could not be more honorable.
We wish Anthony the best in his future endeavors.
