Trump Cancels PSU-OSU Football Appearance
Only a week to go before the election, and in the final weekend, Donald Trump is making moves.
Trump has canceled his planned appearance at the Penn State-Ohio State University football game this weekend.
Instead, Trump will be holding a rally in Virginia.
Right or Wrong
Over this last week, Donald Trump has made or will make appearances in states that he is very unlikely to win.
I would count Virginia among those states, with Trump currently trailing Harris by eight points.
Pennsylvania, however, is still very much in play, yet Trump canceled his appearance at the PSU game in favor of doing the Virginia rally.
The Penn State game kicks off at noon, so there is little chance Trump would have been able to make it to Virginia unless he stayed only for the first half of the game, and that would have been cutting it pretty tight.
College football games and MMA fights have been Trump’s thing during this election cycle, so this was a surprising cancelation, as Trump has already attended a few games this season.
No reason was officially given for the cancelation other than what the school noted.
A spokesperson for Penn State stated, “The University has been notified that former President Donald Trump will no longer be attending the Ohio State-Penn State football game,” reportedly due to scheduling conflicts.
I am kind of mixed on this one. I get why Trump would defer to the rally, but PA is in play and Trump has been making up serious ground with younger voters.
My guess is that Trump will address a national issue during this rally, and the perception will be that he is working hard on the campaign trail rather than taking time off to see a game.
But I don’t know… there is just something about that ESPN highlight of 100,000 fans screaming “Trump” or “USA” that seems pretty beneficial to me.
With less than a week to go in a race that is extremely tight, one mistake can be the difference in winning or losing, so I really hope Trump is making the right call here.
