Paul Pelosi Attacks Gets Life in Prison

Just prior to the 2020 election, the country was stunned when a report broke that a man had broken into the Pelosi home and brutally attacked the husband of Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

The attacker, David DePape, was looking for Nancy Pelosi but wound up beating her husband over the head with a hammer right in front of the police.

DePape was just sentenced, and it does not appear he will be seeing blue skies as a free man again anytime soon.

Get That Jumpsuit Ready

In October 2020, DePape was caught on surveillance video trying to break into the Pelosi home.

When he did eventually get into the home, he was spotted by Paul Pelosi, who called the cops.

When police arrived, bodycam footage showed DePape and Pelosi struggling for control of a hammer, a struggle DePape won, turning the hammer on Pelosi.

Before police could get DePape under control, he had struck Pelosi in the head.

Paul Pelosi wrote a letter to the court for review before DePape’s sentencing.

In part, the letter stated, “It took many months to reclaim my home and well-being. I still keep away from media and video of the attack for my own peace of mind. Even after testifying in federal and state criminal trials, I do not read the coverage or willingly revisit the events.

“My family and friends were traumatized by the attack — and many political spouses with whom I have grown close during my wife’s service in Congress have been both sympathetic to me and scared for their own safety. To protect my healing, I still do not address the assault with my wife or anyone else. Nor do I discuss the trauma experienced by my wife who remains under 24-hour security two years later even though she is no longer serving as Speaker of the House.

“Even now, we do not answer our landline phone or our front door due to ongoing threats. We cannot fully remove the stain on the floor in the front entryway where I bled. As recently as this summer, we had to improve security measures at our home due to ongoing threats.”

The judge clearly took those words to heart, as DePape was sentenced to 30 years.

DePape had also requested a new trial, a request that was denied by San Francisco County Judge Harry Dorfman.

I want to be clear… I fully support the sentence and hope DePape never sees the light of day again.

I only wonder why we have not seen sentences this stiff on attacks against Trump and other Republicans.

For instance, when Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) was attacked, the man who attacked him was initially only given 30 days, then the sentence was extended to seven additional months behind bars and six months of home detention.

As usual, the scales of justice seemed to be tipped in favor of Democrats.
