PA Governor Warns Musk Over $1 Million Daily Election Giveaways

Elon Musk created quite the buzz by backing Donald Trump in this election, and now he has Democrats really wound up.

Several days ago, Musk announced that he would be giving away $1 million every day leading up to the election for those signing up on The America PAC to support the Constitution.

Now Democrats believe the offer needs to be investigated, expressing grave “concern” over the offer.

Is This Legal

The moment that Musk announced the lottery-style drawing, the first thought that came to my mind was whether this was even legal.

That question is now being asked by just about every media outlet and Democrats.

Musk is offering $1 million in key battleground states for people who sign his petition to support our Constitution via a random daily drawing.

Richard Hasen, a professor at UCLA School of Law, just answered that question, believing the offer violates 52 U.S.C. § 10307(c), which states: "Whoever knowingly or willfully … pays or offers to pay or accepts payment either for registration to vote or for voting shall be fined not more than $10,000 or imprisoned not more than five years, or both."

Hasen added, "This isn't a particularly close case—this is exactly what the statute was designed to criminalize.”

PA Governor Josh Shapiro also commented on the offer, stating, “I think there are real questions with how [Musk] is spending money in this race. How the dark money is flowing, not just into Pennsylvania but apparently now into the pockets of Pennsylvanians.”

He went on to call the offered “deeply concerning.”

Musk recently announced that he was endorsing Trump for the election, then started the PAC with a $75 million donation to get the ball rolling.

Democrats are terrified of Musk possibly being named a member of Trump’s cabinet if Donald Trump is elected.

Musk has previously stated that he would be interested in a position that would enable him to evaluate all government agencies to trim the waste.
