Trump assassination suspect demands Judge Aileen Cannon's recusal from case

Former President Donald Trump and his family are likely ENRAGED after the latest news surrounding the man charged with attempting to assassinate Trump on the golf course.

Would-be killer Ryan Routh’s attorney has filed a motion requesting the recusal of U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon because of one sole fact:

She was appointed to the bench by Trump.

In the motion, Routh’s attorney wrote that “Mr. Trump is the current Republican candidate for President in next month’s election. On the campaign trail, he has repeatedly praised Your Honor for her rulings in his case.”

“As the alleged victim here, he has a significant stake in the outcome of this case too. Were he to become President in the future, he would have authority to nominate Your Honor to a federal judgeship on a higher court were a vacancy to arise,” the motion continued.

The lawyer did not stop there.

“By repeatedly and publicly praising this Court by name for its rulings in his case, Mr. Trump has arguably bolstered the perception that the Court is partial in his favor,” the motion went on to say.

Is this person serious?

At this point, it is hard not to think Routh’s attorney is just trying to buy time.

If the judge is recused from the case, the trial could take weeks, maybe MONTHS to get back on track.

There have been MULTIPLE instances in which Trump-appointed judges do NOT rule in favor of Trump.

Cannon specifically, also oversaw special counsel Jack Smith’s classified documents case against Trump, and was allowed to do so without issue.

If Cannon was allowed to be the judge on THAT case, how would this be any different?

While the next steps have not been confirmed, the fact that Routh's team has filed this motion at all is nothing more than another attempt at dragging the entire case into the weeds.

For now, all we can do is wait and see how things turn out.

Do you think the Trump-appointed judge will be recused from the case involving the man charged an attempt on the former president's life?
