Arizona Supreme Court Will Not Block Divorce Records Being Released

Kari Lake is running out of time in her Senate race against Rep. Ruben Gallego (D-AZ).

However, there has been a new development.

But I don’t know if it will enable Lake to make up the five points she is currently behind in the race

Public Figure

Gallego and his ex-wife, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, were trying to keep their divorce records sealed for obvious reasons.

Nobody wants their dirty laundry aired in public, especially during an election where the other side will use whatever they can to take you down.

The Gallegos had taken this case all the way to the state Supreme Court to keep the records hidden, but the court has ruled against them.

In the majority opinion, Justice Clint Bolick stated, “The court concludes that the Gallegos have not established a strong likelihood of success on the merits.

“Nor have they established irreparable harm with any degree of specificity if the stay is not granted.’’

The decision, by the way, was unanimous.

The records were requested not by Lake, but by the Washington Free Beacon.

The records will officially be released to the publication on Friday, but it has not been made clear when the report in the publication will be released.

The attorney for the Gallegos, Daniel Arellano, had argued, “Wrongly unsealing any portion of the underlying divorce record is irreparable and cannot later be cured if any decision was made in error.

“This court, or any court, cannot ‘unring’ the proverbial bell once previously sealed information is unsealed. Even if this court were to reverse the superior court’s decision, the Gallegos’ rights to keep parts of the record sealed or redacted would have been rendered moot without a stay.

“This court must issue a stay to allow the Gallegos an opportunity to seek review and for the court to consider the petition.

“Without a stay, the damage will be immense and irreparable.’’

The Free Beacon clearly plans on dropping a report on this, having argued, “That process will mean the media and the electorate get nothing from these presumptively public records until after all votes are cast.

“That harm to the media and voters is time-sensitive and irreparable, starting a week ago with the commencement of early voting, a problem that will deepen each day until Nov. 5.”

Again, voters in Arizona have made it fairly clear they do not like Lake, and she is well behind in this race, but if there is a bombshell in those records, it could give her a boost.

To this point, there have not been any derogatory statements about their relationship, so, in the end, this will probably be a nothing burger, but you never know.
