CBS Taking Fire to Release Full Transcript of Harris Interview

CBS News made its bed, and now it is being forced to lie in it.

The network aired two completely different answers to a question asked to Harris during her “60 Minutes” interview.

Afterward, calls were made to air the entire interview and release the full, unedited transcript, but those calls have only grown louder as CBS ignores the backlash.

What Did She Say

CBS did this to itself by airing one answer during a promotion for the interview, then a completely different answer during the Monday night special.

After the interview aired, Donald Trump went nuclear, demanding the FCC pull the network's license.

The FCC pushed back, calling it free speech, but that was far from anything covered under the First Amendment if CBS changed out the answer to make Harris look better.

The solution seemed easy… release the full, unedited interview as well as a transcript of the interview in full and the broadcast interview so we could compare and see what they did.

Bari Weiss, the editor of the Free Press, called for a full, unedited interview to be released by the network to solve the issue.

An editorial in the Free Press stated, "Given the stakes here—a rare interview with a presidential candidate a month before a very close election—you would think CBS would do the same. But no transcript has been forthcoming.”

The New York Post editorial board also commented, stating, "With even the Harris-Walz campaign disavowing CBS' hack editing job of Bill Whitaker’s interview with the Democratic nominee, the network’s only hope of regaining any credibility is to release the full transcript.”

The Harris campaign simply stated that it had no control over the final edit, and washed its hands of the interview.

The Post continued, "Given how awful Harris looked even after CBS chose to deceive its viewers, this may well be the last serious interview she does before Election Day: The network has a clear duty to the public to share the whole thing,"

Others who chimed in demanding a full interview being released were Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.) and activist Riley Gaines.

The Federalist editor, Mollie Hemingway, added, "The fact that CBS @60Minutes is refusing to release the full, unedited transcript of its interview with Kamala Harris is a huge scandal. Suggests that much of the entire finished product was manipulative and deceitful, and not just the one horrible example that was discovered.”

If they have nothing to hide, why not release the full interview, just as was demanded when “60 Minutes” did its Trump interview?

But, if CBS was found moving answers around to make Harris look better or coaching her on answers, well, it just proves me right about state-run media.
