Biden’s Latest Border Crackdown Just Another Smokescreen

Last week, the Biden administration announced another border policy to slow down the flow of migrants across the border.

The administration announced that it would not be offering parole to hundreds of thousands of migrants.

However, Biden’s critics say this is just another move that is meant to help Harris in the election and likely to be reversed as soon as the election is over.

Another Smokescreen

These particular migrants were part of the two-year parole that was offered during the Cuban, Haitian, Nicaraguan, and Venezuelan (CHNV) program.

However, the Department of Homeland Security has reported that when parole renewal time arrives, the DHS will not renew them.

This means all of these migrants will have to leave the country or make other immigration arrangements.

If they do not, they will supposedly be deported.

DHS stated, “Those who do not have pending immigration benefits or who have not been granted an immigration benefit during their two-year parole period will need to depart the United States prior to the expiration of their authorized parole period or may be placed in removal proceedings after the period of parole expires.”

All told, this would mean the status of more than 500,000 migrants is suddenly up in the air, yet we really don’t hear Democrats or the media crying about it in the media, and there is probably a very good reason for that.

Eric Ruark, the director of research at immigration haws NumbersUSA, stated, “I guess they’re figuring they are going to put the onus on whoever is in [the White House] to remove the people here, and history would show that a lot of times — particularly if they’re working and they have children — they’re going to remain permanently, whether they have status or not.

“There will be an expectation that Congress will eventually amnesty them.”

He then added, “Yes, they might be ending these programs, but they’re not doing anything to remove these people from the United States.”

The reason the program was initially put on hold was because of an internal audit that showed massive fraud was taking place in the program.

Ruark noted, “I was not surprised by the amount of fraud,” Ruark said. “I do think that had a lot to do with why they ended the program because they don’t want it to be continued when you have a new administration coming in who can show how much fraud and abuse there was in the system.

“Or if you have more congressional oversight looking into these programs, they could say ‘well we ended these programs’ and so you don’t have to have all that public scrutiny or exposure.”

House Homeland Security Chairman Mark Green also chimed in, stating, “This move is yet another optics-driven smokescreen from the Biden-Harris administration.

“There are numerous other ways these inadmissible aliens could be — and likely will be — allowed to stay, including through applying for asylum or Temporary Protected Status.

“Even if they don’t, however, given [Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s] low enforcement rates under this administration, most simply will not be priorities for removal.”

I agree with Green on that front. The fact DHS resumed the program after all the fraud was found is astonishing, but the threat of being deported is completely different from actually being deported.

Besides, Biden will leave the dirty work for Trump if he wins office. This way here, the Dems know Trump can target roughly 500,000 migrants for deportation as soon as he takes office, then they can make him out to be a monster for deporting the people who lied about their information in order to be allowed into the country in the first place.

They will, of course, leave out the fact that it was the Biden administration that tagged them all for deportation.
