Chargers Coach Leaves Game for Medical Emergency

The San Diego Chargers had a bit of a scare on the field this past Sunday, but not from a player.

Coach Jim Harbaugh was removed from the field by medical staff for an unknown reason during the game.

It was later revealed that staff detected an irregular heartbeat, and they were taking extra precautions just to be safe.

Irregular Heartbeat

Harbaugh is a very emotional man, as anyone who saw him coach the Michigan Wolverines can attest.

He is all-in, all the time.

The surging Chargers were taking on an up-and-down Denver Broncos team that is led by rookie QB Bo Nix.

The Chargers jumped all over Denver early, but that was hardly the headline from this game.

Sideline reporters noted that Harbaugh had been taken off the field during the first quarter.

It was later revealed that an irregular heartbeat triggered the concern.

Harbaugh eventually returned to the game, watching his Chargers defeat the Broncos 23-16.

As far as the game is concerned, the Chargers dominated virtually the entire game until about halfway through the final quarter.

They went into the locker room with a 20-0 lead, then added a field goal to start the second half.

With about 10 minutes left in the final quarter, Bo Nix threw his first TD of the game, then threw another one with about five minutes remaining, but they failed to convert the 2-point conversion that would have gotten them within eight for a one-score game.

With about a minute left, the Broncos opted for a 40-yard field goal to get the game to within one score, 23-16.

With the new rules, it is virtually impossible to recover an onsides kick, but that was their only hope, and it failed.

The Chargers held on, now at 3-2, while the Broncos dropped to 3-3.
