Cause of Death for Drake Hogestyn Announced

Two weeks ago, we reported on the death of Drake Hogestyn.

Fans of daytime TV were devastated to learn of his death but at the time, no cause of death was reported.

This week, it was finally revealed how the 70-year-old star passed away.

He’s Gone

According to the Los Angeles Medical Examiner’s office, Hogestyn died from pancreatic cancer.

His death was initially announced on the social media account of “Days of Our Lives,” which stated, “It’s with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Drake Hogestyn.

“He was thrown the curve ball of his life when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, but he faced the challenge with incredible strength and determination. After putting up an unbelievable fight, he passed peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

“He was the most amazing husband, father, papa, and actor.

“He loved performing for the "Days" audience and sharing the stage with the greatest cast, crew, and production team in the business,” the statement continued. “We love him and we will miss him all the Days of our Lives.”

Hogestyn’s first big break came in 1982 with a recurring role on “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.”

That was a pretty good gig to land right out of the gate, and he just never slowed down.

From there, he landed several TV movie roles before landing his role on “Days of Our Lives,” which made him famous.

In all, he appeared in nearly 4,300 episodes of the show, putting him up there with some of the biggest names in daytime TV.

Rest in peace, sir.
