Harris Campaign Responds to Reports About Walz Being Nervous About Debate

On Tuesday night, JD Vance and Tim Walz squared off for the first and only VP debate.

Both sides talked a lot as the debate got closer, including concerns about Tim Walz's performance.

In fact, it almost seemed like Dems were doing damage control before the fact to temper the expectations of Walz, and now we know why.

Concerns

I just watched the replay of the debate, and I was surprised by how civil it was.

The blatant bias of the moderators aside, I thought Vance and Walz did a fairly good job.

Walz had a few major stumbles and while I would not classify it as the bloodbath many conservative pundits are making it out to be, to me, Vance was the clear winner.

He had some great lines that left Walz speechless, literally.

Harris 2024 senior adviser Ian Sams and former White House Spokesman for Oversight and Investigations was on Fox News to discuss the debate, but he avoided a key question.

When Martha MacCallum asked him if Walz was nervous, he ignored the question and talked about the two different visions voters would hear from these two.

MacCallum asked again, and Sams avoided the question again, responding, "He's looking forward to the debate

"I think he's looking forward to debating JD Vance, who, again, is continuing to advocate for returning to high-risk pools that'll put people with preexisting conditions back into these high-risk pools that cost them more money and could kick them off of their insurance."

If Walz felt confident going in, he would have said, so avoiding the question is a pretty big tell there.

Walz looked nervous throughout the debate, especially when Vance was speaking, trying to keep himself busy by nodding and writing notes on his papers.

Vance, on the other hand, was very confident and very well prepared.

I think Walz did better than most expected, but that had a lot to do with moderators coddling him during the debate.

Even so, as I said, I give the nod to Vance.
