Local Sheriff Suspect in Murder of Kentucky Judge

Thursday, headlines blew up all afternoon and evening regarding the horrific death of a judge.

According to reports, the judge was shot in his chambers.

The mind-blowing aspect of the case is that the alleged shooter is a local sheriff.

Shot and Killed

According to reports, Letcher County Sheriff Shawn M. Stines, 43, allegedly got into an argument with Judge Kevin Mullins’ in the judge’s chambers.

Authorities believe that Stines fired multiple shots, striking and killing the judge.

After the incident, Stines surrendered to local authorities without incident. He has been charged with first-degree murder.

Local police and Kentucky State Police have not revealed a motive at this time.

Democratic Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear stated, “Sadly, I have been informed that a district judge in Letcher County was shot and killed in his chambers this afternoon. There is far too much violence in this world, and I pray there is a path to a better tomorrow.”

The Kentucky Court of Justice added, “The Kentucky Court of Justice is aware of a tragic incident that occurred today in Letcher County.

“We are currently in contact with law enforcement agencies, including Kentucky State Police, and are offering our full support during this difficult time.

“At this moment, we are not able to share further details, but we will provide updates as more information becomes available.”

This is yet another violent incident against a judge, which seems to be a growing trend in this country.

If you recall, a man who jumped over the desk to attack a judge during his trial just pleaded guilty.

And, of course, there are the numerous threats we have seen against our Supreme Court justices.

This country is clearly tilted in the wrong direction, and I think we can all point the finger at the violent rhetoric in our political world, with constant gaslighting and attacks every time a decision is handed down that people don’t agree with.
