Trump Alleged Assassin in Custody
This weekend, the internet just about blew up after yet another Trump assassin was caught.
This time, the shooter was caught outside of one of Trump's courses, apparently waiting for Trump to work his way around the golf course so he could take a shot at Trump.
The shooter was later identified as Ryan Wesley Routh, 58, who most recently lived in Hawaii and who has a criminal record.
The Suspect
Secret Service spotted Routh and opened fire on him at Trump International Golf Club in West Palm Beach, FL.
This is the course associated with membership at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago club where he has been living since leaving office.
Routh had set up shop outside the club along the fence line, with the barrel of the weapon being spotted by the Secret Service.
Routh was allegedly armed with a SKS-style rifle about 300 yards from where Donald Trump was at the time the rifle was spotted.
Routh was not killed during the exchange and fled the scene, but authorities caught up to him going northbound on I-95, surrounding his vehicle, and took him into custody.
Martin County Sheriff Will Snyder said the arrest took place just near exit 714, stating, "He was smart, he was just driving with the flow of traffic.
"I think that he may have thought that he got away with it."
Police were able to identify his vehicle after a witness came forward and provided a picture of the vehicle to authorities.
On Monday, Routh was charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number.
Federal charges could be filed at a later date, and I would imagine attempting to kill a protected citizen over 60 will be added to the stack of charges he will eventually face.
Trump, for his part, seemed unmoved by the threat, just going about his normal business after the report broke of a second assassination attempt against him.
