MN Election Officials Making Changes Amid New Issues

We are only two months away from the election, and the problems are already starting to surface.

The last issue is in Minnesota, where election officials have located some problematic entries.

However, the officials have stated that they do not believe there are any ineligible voters in the system at this time.

More Problems

Since April, roughly 90,000 voters have been registered or pre-registered to vote in Minnesota.

The state is now automatically registered citizens in the state to vote if they receive a new license or ID or have their ID renewed as long as they meet the criteria as a legal voter.

The pre-registrations are for 16 and 17-year-olds if they will turn 18 by election day.

According to reports, about 1% of the voters that have already been registered or pre-registered have been flagged for potential issues.

Secretary of State Steve Simon has already announced that those particular names will be “inactive” until the issues have been addressed (this amounts to about 1,000 names).

On Friday, after the report surfaced, Republican leaders started to demand answers, stating, “The election is 52 days away, and early voting begins on September 20. Minnesotans want to trust our elections are secure and fair.”

A similar issue has surfaced in Oregon, where about 300 non-citizens were “mistakenly” added to voter rolls.

They have actually been on the rolls since 2021, in what state election officials are calling a “data entry issue’

This is exactly why I have maintained that voter rolls should be audited every year to ensure they are up to date before an election.

These officials have one purpose: to ensure a fair election in their state. Yet here we are, less than 60 days before election day and already into early voting, and they still don’t have their act together.

And they wonder why so many Americans no longer trust our election system.
