Pelosi Relative Gets Conflict of Interest Waiver
You know the old adage… it’s not what you know, it’s who you know.
That would appear to be the case for another Pelosi relative.
This time, it is the wife of the nephew of Pelosi who got a pretty sweet waiver deal for some freebies.
Give Her a Pass
Laurence Pelosi was previously involved in a joint real-estate venture with Goldman Sachs in a venture called Restore Utah.
That project was earning money through housing vouchers from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 8 program.
Laurence’s wife, Alexis, just happened to work for HUD at the time, but thanks to a waiver that was issued, there was no conflict of interest.
That, sadly, is not the end of this little inside job.
In another instance, Laurence Pelosi was named the co-lead of Crow Holdings Renewables in June 2023.
This happened just after Alexis was named as the senior climate adviser for HUD.
Crow Holdings then paid for a dinner that Alexis hosted, picking up the $300 tab for the event after yet another waiver was obtained.
Watchdog group Protect the Public’s Trust Director Michael Chamberlain stated, “It’s good to be Beltway royalty.
“Ethics officials certainly seemed to go out of their way to find a justification for her. Waivers should be rare and limited to unique circumstances for uniquely qualified individuals.
“As we’ve seen, the Biden-Harris administration appears to have a different philosophy, consistently appointing conflicted individuals to powerful posts and then using waivers to magically make those conflicts disappear.”
He later added, “What a tremendous stroke of luck for Laurence to have nailed down the senior manager for renewables gig for a real estate firm when, coincidentally, his wife was a senior climate advisor at HUD in the Biden-Harris administration, which brags of doling out hundreds of billions of dollars for renewables.”
The whole system is rigged, my friends, and we are not on the inside. These people are literally laughing at us all while they rake in millions.
