Governor DeWine Addresses Concerns Over Influx of Migrants in Ohio

Over the last few days, Ohio has been in the news quite a bit.

One reason is the rumors of migrants eating cats and ducks.

The second is the large number of migrants that have settled in this area, which Governor DeWine just addressed.

Moving In

Ohio made national headlines about a week ago when a video of a local council hearing blew up.

An attendee claimed that the migrants from Haiti who had relocated to the area were capturing local pets and eating them.

That has been debunked, but the fact is that Clark County's population has exploded, with about 15,000 migrants having settled into the area over the last few years.

Springfield Mayor Rob Rue addressed the issue, stating, "We wish to clarify that we have not been able to verify any credible reports or specific claims of pets being harmed, injured, or abused by individuals within the immigrant community.

"The news story regarding a cat being killed or consumed did not originate in Springfield. It actually involved a Canton woman who was arrested for animal cruelty last month."

DeWine stated, "That obviously represents a massive increase based upon the percentage of the population of Springfield.

"That is unprecedented over such a short period of time."

Most of these migrants don’t have jobs, they don’t drive, don’t have insurance, and they don’t speak English, so you can see the concern this is creating for residents.

So, is DeWine pushing back against the federal government for flooding his state? Quite the opposite.

The Republican governor is vowing to use taxpayer dollars to provide healthcare and other help for the migrants, up to about $2.5 million.

Senator JD Vance (R-OH), Trump’s vice presidential candidate, actually helped push that pet-eating narrative forward when he claimed his office was receiving all kinds of inquiries about migrants eating pets. Later, he said that it may not be true; he was just forwarding information that had been called into his office.

He also address the situation regarding the overcrowding from migrants, stating, “In my conversations with folks in Springfield, it’s not just housing.

“They’re trying to build 5,000 new housing units, which is a very Herculean task in a town of about 55,000 people, but it’s also hospital services, it’s school services. There are a whole host of ways in which this immigration problem, I think, is having very real human consequences.”

Something tells me this city and county are not alone. I know what the issues are in Texas, but I would love to see more mayors step up and tell Americans the strain being put on their small cities from this migrant crisis.

We need the truth if we are ever going to expose what Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have done to this country in terms of immigration.
