JD Vance Wants GOP to Hold Firm on Spending Bill

In about two weeks, our government will be shut down unless Congress can pass budget legislation or a continued resolution (CR) to kick the can down the road until March.

Donald Trump wanted Speaker Johnson (R-LA) to include election integrity legislation, but the Dems are never going to go for it and the CR did not even have the full support of the GOP caucus, so Johnson pulled it from the floor.

Now Vance is hinting that if they cannot get a responsible budget passed, let it shut down.

Shut It Down

Vance did not pull any punches on the subject, stating, "Why shouldn’t we be trying to force this government shutdown fight to get something out of it that’s good for the American people?

"Like, why have a government if it’s not a functioning government?"

Trump more or less said the same thing, posting on Truth Social, “If Republicans in the House, and Senate, don’t get absolute assurances on Election Security, THEY SHOULD, IN NO WAY, SHAPE, OR FORM, GO FORWARD WITH A CONTINUING RESOLUTION ON THE BUDGET. ... CLOSE IT DOWN!!!”

When Johnson pulled the bill from the floor, he stated, "We have two obligations right now.

"Congress has a lot of responsibilities, but two primary obligations: responsibly fund the government and make sure that our elections are free and fair and secure. And that’s what we’re working on. And we’ll continue and we’ll keep you posted."

I have spoken on this before, and I really think everyone needs to look at the big picture here.

If the government shuts down, the media and Democrats are going to blame this all on the GOP.

I am not saying cave to the Democrats, but pass the bare minimum needed to keep the government operational or they risk losing the House in the upcoming election.

I am not a fan of CRs at all, but we all know today’s media is nothing more than an arm of the Democrat Party, and this is just too close to the election to be playing these games.
