Johnson Pulls Bill to Avert Government Shutdown

Once again, the clock is ticking on a government shutdown and Congress is playing games.

We know there is no way they are going to be able to pass a full budget in the next two weeks, so the only real solution to avoid a government shutdown right now is a continued resolution (CR).

Johnson has been presenting legislation that was backed by Trump, but there is no way it ever would have passed the Senate or been signed by Joe Biden.

Calling It Quits

Johnson’s posturing did little to convince Democrats that he was serious, and with little support for the bill, even among Republicans, Johnson pulled the bill before it was voted on.

The Speaker told reporters, “No vote today, because we’re in the consensus-building business here in Congress.

“With small majorities, that’s what you do.”

He added, “Right now, Congress has a lot of responsibilities but two primary obligations: Responsibly fund the government and make sure that our elections are free and fair and secure.”

Well, right now, I would challenge if Johnson is doing either of them.

He has to know if the government shuts down, the media is going to put this all on Republicans, so he has to get a fair spending bill passed that will keep the government open.

Second, the fact Kennedy cannot get off the ballot and Stein and West cannot get on the ballot is far from fair.

When you have a candidate who withdraws from the race three months before the election and Democrat judges are keeping him, on that is about as unfair as it gets.

I also want to know why McConnell, Johnson, Trump, and the RNC are not challenging the constitutionality of the nomination of Kamala Harris.

We have had 21 elections in this history of this country that were virtual slam dunks, and not once did an elected candidate drop out due to bad polling and the party replace that candidate.

The fact they are not at least attempting to litigate this makes them all spineless, in my opinion.

Do your job, Mr. Speaker, and stop playing games!
