Springsteen’s Wife Diagnosed with Cancer

One of the more famous singers in the world has some bad news for fans this week.

Bruce Springsteen’s wife, Patti Scialfa, has been diagnosed with cancer.

Springsteen and Scialfa have been married since 1991.

Sad Day

Scialfa and Springsteen had known each other for some time before getting married, as they had met at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, New Jersey.

Springsteen was married to Julianne Phillips at the time, but she had filed for divorce in 1988, something tells me amid a budding romance between Bruce and Patti.

Scialfa was scheduled to make her own solo album when Springsteen asked her to join his band, which she did for the Born in the U.S.A tour.

After a brief relationship with Tom Cruise and Phillips having filed for divorce, Bruce and Patti started living together, eventually getting married in 1991.

The couple broke the news this week that Patti has cancer, having been diagnosed with multiple myeloma in 2018 but keeping it quiet until now.

She shared the news in the movie, “Road Diary: Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band,” which was screened at the Toronto Film Festival on Sunday.

She stated, “This affects my immune system, so I have to be careful what I choose to do and where I choose to go.

“Every once in a while, I come to a show or two, and I can sing a few songs on stage, and that’s been a treat. That’s the new normal for me right now, and I’m OK with that.”

This particular cancer prevents the body from producing antibodies and its ability to fight off infections.

There is no cure for this particular form of cancer.

What we do not know is how far along the disease has gotten, as it can sometimes linger, not showing any signs, and doctors will take a wait-and-see approach.
